Start Your Summer Adventure with ASI Poly Escapes

Looking for summer adventure? Step out of your comfort zone, make new friends, and explore somewhere new on an ASI Poly Escapes student-led backpacking trip! Get outside and explore before fall quarter kicks off with four trips from Aug. 15 through Sept. 11.

Kings Canyon National Park, Tehipite Dome

Thursday Aug 15., 3:30 p.m.–Sunday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m.

Backpack through cobblestone giants in Kings Canyon National Park to a secluded valley in the Sierras. We’ll hike 12 miles with views of Tehipite Dome and camp at the Middle Fork Kings River. Walk in the footsteps of John Muir who visited this valley and named it one of the greatest hidden gems of the Sierras.

Experience Level: Beginner
Physical Demand: Moderate

California’s Lost Coast

Wednesday, Aug. 28, 3:30 p.m.–Monday, Sept. 2, 10 p.m.

Follow the tides and weave through river valleys on a backpacking trip along Northern California’s legendary coastline. The King Range area is nearly untouched by civilization and is home to unique coastal terrain. We’ll hike the entire 25-mile trail in five days while enjoying incredible views, wildlife, and flora along the way. 

Experience Level: Beginner
Physical Demand: Moderate

Yosemite National Park, Hetch Hetchy

Friday, Sept. 6, 3:30 p.m.–Monday, Sept. 9, 10 p.m.

Hike along towering waterfalls and soaring granite cliffs on a Hetch Hetchy Valley backpacking adventure. Hidden in Yosemite National Park’s peaceful northwest corner, Hetch Hetchy is a vast wilderness filled with stunning peaks, hidden canyons, and remote lakes. We’ll hike 6 miles to Rancheria Falls to explore the hidden gems of this beautiful landscape.

Experience Level: Beginner
Physical Demand: Moderate

John Muir Wilderness, Hot Springs

Wednesday, Sept. 11, 3:30 p.m.–Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 p.m.

Backpack through a volcanic wonderland in the John Muir Wilderness. We’ll hike 10 miles before relaxing in secluded hot springs with panoramic views. Camp deep in the Sierras and enjoy the amazing alpine meadows and the starry night sky on this backpacking and camping adventure.

Experience Level: Beginner
Physical Demand: Moderate

If outdoor adventure is right up your alley but the timing’s not right, rent equipment at the lowest prices in town at the Poly Escapes Rental Center. The Rental Center is open all summer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday offering all of the necessities for camping, kayaking, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, and more.
