By: Jenna Brown on Oct 10, 2018 in ASI Staff Spotlights

Name: Noah Miyake
Position: Student Manager — University Union Facility Supervisors
Major: Business Administration
School year: Fourth
Hometown: Mission Viejo, CA

1) What makes you happy?
Finding new music that I resonate with is something that always improves my mood and makes me more excited for whatever lies ahead in my day.

2) What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I write/read poetry. I even took a class on it during spring quarter 2018.

3) Share your favorite memory working for ASI.
My favorite memory working for ASI would probably be working the Resource Fair during SLO Days. Being able to share my experiences with incoming students and their supporters while also informing them about ASI was a truly rewarding experience.

4) What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
The best place I’ve traveled to would have to be Sitka, Alaska. The air felt crisper and cleaner, and the nature in the area provided a relaxing break from a more urban/suburban life.

5) Where's your favorite spot in SLO?
My favorite spot in SLO is Terrace Hill. The view encompasses all of SLO, and it’s truly something special during sunset.

6) If you could create a slogan for your life, what would it be?
I would either choose “It’d be rude not to,” or “There ain’t no curses except for the ones that are self-imposed.”

7) What’s on your bucket list?
I want to attend at least one soccer game in each of the five major European leagues (Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Serie A, and Bundesliga).

8) What are you most passionate about?
I’m most passionate about sports. I follow football (college and NFL), soccer, basketball, and college lacrosse very closely. Many hours of my time have been dedicated to sports broadcasts or analysis (Colin Cowherd, Around the Horn, etc.).

9) What do you hope to achieve after you graduate?
I hope to start my own company rather than go work for someone else. I also hope to live in England for a portion of my life after college.

10) What advice would you give to students interested in working for ASI?
I would say to express their excitement about working alongside fellow students, as well as full-time staff, with an opportunity to impact students. Everyone in ASI puts in a lot of effort to improve the college experience of Cal Poly students, and it is a great feeling to have your co-workers striving toward a goal that is important to you.
